How The Mini Look’s
Fantastic that’s all I can say, The re-launched Mini cooper is very popular as the waiting list is huge for this car. See this models sporty roof spoiler which really does just beg you to take it for a spin. It has beautiful lines that just catch the eye as well as the white roof that sets off the red body and just explodes with style and grace. Another awesome thing is the cost? So we give this car a rating of 10 out of 10 for it’s look’s.
How Does The Interior Look?
The interior of the Mini is a real treat and the first thing that get’s your attention is the huge speedometer which has been placed in the centre of the dashboard. Doing this sent shivers down my spine it really did and it just begs you to drive it away.
The digital display is very sexy too with its rev counting needing to get going asap. It also has the look of cockpit with the switches that resemble this. In all my years doing car reviews this mini cooper is the one that amazed me with the most with the lighting, it is like something out of a night club chilling room giving a ambient feel to it. These can be changed to suit what ever frame of mind you are in. We give this car 10 out of 10 for it’s interior look.
Is the Mini Cooper Practical
The interior is excellent for the driver or front passenger with plenty of room for your legs but if you want to take more and sit them in the back seat, well lets just say I hope they have small legs, So I would say long trips wouldn’t be a good idea. Ideal for smaller children though. So mums can take the kids to school in style.
The boot capacity is 160 litres but the seats fold down which makes that go up to 680 litres, which is ample for those shopping trips or playing golf. The glove compartment is very nice too and looks elegant. It also has other small area’s for storage. So overall we give it 8 out of 10 for practicality.
The Handling & The Ride
The Mini look’s amazing and makes you feel happy and begs you to get in, but what is it like on the road with its broad girth and low ride. Feels every bump?…. Not at all the handling is fantastic and grips the road superbly, making it pleasure to ride in. So we give it 8.5 out of 10 for handling and ride.
Performance
The cooper’s 1.6 litre engine is not the biggest in the world but with this car it feel’s fast, it can reach 60 mph in 9.1 second’s and has a top speed of 126 mph. If you wanted a faster model then you should purchase the mini cooper S which will get you to 60 mph in only 7.1 seconds. It has a extra 55 bhp which gives you a top speed of 140 mph. In this section we give it 8.5 out of 10.
Cost Of Running a Mini
The mini cooper’s mile’s to the gallon are fantastic at 48.7, also the road tax is low at only £100 per year. When you buy this model you get 3 years unlimited mileage warranty with break down cover as well. So the car will hold its value thank’s to the long waiting list for this model. For this requirement we give it 9.5 out of 10.
Is It Reliable?
This current model was launched in 2006 so its a little early for us to comment on it at this stage. How ever Mini and BMW have a great reputation for selling reliable cars so I can not see this being any different.
How Safe is the Mini
This model has a anti-lock brake system as part of it’s standard model with 6 air bag’s what gave it a rating of 4 stars in EuroNCAP’s view. These side air bag’s are a very important feature because majority of fatal accidents are from side impacts. It also boost’s a automatic stability control system with traction which helps to keep the car going in the right direction and not spinning out of control on tight corners.. The driver also benefits from electronic braking distribution. All of these help’s us to give the Mini cooper a safety rating of 8.5 out of 10.
The Mini’s Equipment
As standard with this model you get a CD player, electric windows, alloy wheels with 6 air bags to improve safety. you can have extra features at a price such as air conditioning, ambient lighting and a satellite navigation. You can also have sports suspension. With all this equipment we rate the mini cooper equipment at 9.5 out of 10.
Conclusion
